The dance floor is no longer a haven for single females with tons of emotional baggage, cougars (older females who love to date younger men) looking for fresh meat, older guys looking for their next young fling, young-adult males with raging hormones humping anything that walks, camera lens chasers, hoppy-di-hop-hop dancing groups looking to win an imaginary popularity contest or overly confident females/divas shedding chunks of makeup with each attempt to do the popular “hot wuck” dance.
A few years ago when I was single and casually exploring my dating options responsibly. The unwritten rule amongst the few close friends was to never be seen at a popular club or lounge with a female that is “girlfriend” material. Dinners, lunches and occasional trips to the movie theater was ok, but parties were considered off limits. Nevertheless, a lot has changed over the years in my approach towards dating and more noticeably, my relationship status and personal views regarding couples accompanying each other to dancehall events. Today, I welcome the idea of walking hand-in-hand or even showing open affection to my empress at a party without the slightest care of what others might think.
Society In general has also changed for the better in terms of places it considers “couple friendly.” Clubs, bars and lounges has been transformed from a singles hot spot into the ideal destination for romantically linked individuals. A perfect example of this “change for the better” is evident in the type of pictures that surface on popular New York party websites. On those websites, it wouldn’t be surprising to discover pictures of couples hugging, kisses or even dancing the night away. This, of coarse is a direct indicator of a small, but noticeable change in dancehall patrons attitude towards relationships. Perhaps the culture that existed in the early 90s when Beenie Man released a song encouraging males to “have nuff gal and gal inna bundle” finally matured. And realize that following Beenie’s lyrical advice would lead to countless hospital visits in search of a miracle cure a burning sensation.

Your article is not totally correct. Back in the days there were lots of couples going to clubs, for the right reason, to have a good time. They would dance the night away and go home feeling relaxed. Parties these days is riddled with competition. I have to wonder if most of thes girls who are up in the video light putting up their hands when certain songs are playing with reference to their man actually have one. If so, where are they and why are they always out by themselves?
