Unprofessional Nightclub Management and Their Staff

I was on the Brooklyn bound number 4 train a few days ago thinking about a topic to write about for my next Blog entry. As usual, a number of topics came to mind, but I could not narrow it down to just one. After a few minutes of debating on which topic to choose, my mind drifted to a few unpleasant experiences I had while attending dancehall events. Surprisingly, those experiences had nothing to do with over priced entrance fees or sound-men excessively using profanity. It had a lot to do with the unprofessional behavior of nightclub management and their staff when handling matters concerning promoters and party-goers. Continue reading →

Have you ever felt like you didn’t get your money’s worth after leaving a party?

34_gold_guaranteeThe last time I went to a club was in fall of 2007 when a former friend of mine convinced me to attend a party at a popular club in Queens, New York. That night, I did not feel excited about leaving my warm bed to go anywhere, but because I had developed a reputation of turning down party invitations – I decided to break the trend.

We arrived at the party at approximately 12:30 am, paid the entrance fee ($20 USD) and got the shock of our lives when we realized that the club was almost empty. And to make matters worst, the DJ/Soundman was still trying to get his speakers and microphone to work properly. Nonetheless, if I had known that a portion of the party would involve us standing aimlessly while the DJ yells “microphone check, microphone check” one too many times, I would have stayed home.   Continue reading →

Ladies: Are You His Side-Dish?

062706-p1I’m almost certain that most females who attend dancehall events on a regular basis would agree that they frequently get approached by guys who all seem to share one common goal: to smash. It is often easy for females to recognize the game when it is been played, but from time to time — when there is a slight malfunction / glitch – the player instantly uses it to his advantage in order to score a “touch-down.”

It is without question that a significant number of guys who attend dancehall events religiously are either secretly married, dating or is in a sexual relationship with one or more females. Continue reading →

How to pick up a girl while she is with her friends?

black-coupleTake this scenario: you are at a popular dancehall party enjoying the music, but you cant seem to take your eyes off a very attractive (based on your standards.) girl chatting with her friends across the dance floor. She seem approachable, but the fact that she is with her girlfriends lead you to assume that it would be impossible to steal her away for a conversation. Well, contrary to your assumption, it is possible to steal her away from her friends only if you use the following suggestions.

Stand Confidently – In an effort to be cool, a lot of males at dancehall parties have developed an habit of standing with their chins pointed down and shoulder leaning to the left. To assert yourself better as a man, stand upright in order to project your confidence across the room.

Make Eye Contact – Now that you have gotten the importance of standing upright, your next step is to try and make eye contact with her four times at three minutes intervals. Why three minutes intervals? To determine whether or not she is interested in you, because most females would avoid making eye contact with a guy who doesn’t spark their interest. In addition, make sure that you smile and give her a subtle wink on the third or fourth interval and if she smiles back – take a deep breath and get ready to approach her.

Stand at a non-threatening distance – Since the girl that you are admiring across the dance floor indicated to you using eye contact that she is also interested, it is now time that you walk confidently over to her and take things to the next level. Before uttering a single word, make sure that you stand close enough so that she could hear what you are saying, but far enough to avoid spooking her friends. Continue reading →
